Town tax revenue should go up

When the final tallies are made, Sherman is projecting it could see about a 14 percent increase in its sales tax revenues over the previous year. The sales tax forecast was discussed as a part of one of the city council’s first budget talks last week in the leadup to the 2022-2023 budget season.

‘Russian Doll’ Season 2 worth watching

I have to admit, I was wrong about “Russian Doll.” The first few episodes of the dark supernatural comedy created by Natasha Lyonne, Amy Poehler and Leslye Headland, which premiered in 2019, didn’t grab me in the same way it grabbed so many other critics and viewers. I was a little bored and a little turned off by the series’ sensibility, which didn’t totally line up with my taste.

Summer 2021 warmest ever for Europe

BERLIN – Scientists say last summer was the hottest summer on record in Europe, with temperatures a full 1.8 degrees Fahrenheit higher than the average for the previous three decades. A report released Friday by the European Union’s Copernicus Climate Change Service found while spring 2021 was cooler than average, the summer months were marked by “severe and long-lasting heatwaves” that saw numerous new temperature records, including an unprecedented 119.8 degrees Fahrenheit measured in Sicily last August.
