1 dead following Refuge Road wreck

The Texas Department of Public Safety has announced that a two-vehicle crash in Denison Monday has left one person deceased. In a news release issued Tuesday morning, the department said the event took place around 11:40 a.m. Monday on FM 1417 near Refuge Road in Grayson County.

“A preliminary investigation indicated that a 2025 Toyota Tundra was traveling eastbound on Refuge Rd and a 2021 International Concrete Mixer was traveling northbound on FM 1417,” the release said. “The driver of the Toyota Tundra disregarded the stop sign and struck the Concrete Mixer.”

The drivers of both vehicles have been identified.

“The driver of the Toyota Tundra, Dylan Mathews, a 29-year-old from Denison, TX, was not injured,” the release said.

“The driver of the Concrete Mixer, Enrique Martinez Jr, a 26-year-old from Sherman, TX, was flown to Texoma Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries.”

This investigation is ongoing, and no additional information is available at this time.
