Three area swimmers qualified for the Class 4A state swim meet when the University Interscholastic League released the call-ups on Monday.

Denison senior Tori Fryar and Dodd City junior Miranda Fannin are headed back to state while Pottsboro sophomore Laney Recer will join them for the first time on Feb. 21-22 in Austin.

Each of the eight region champions automatically qualify for state and Fryar advanced after winning the 500 freestyle at the Region III meet this past weekend. She will also swim the 200 freestyle after being one of the next eight fastest times in the state.

It is the first time Fryar qualified for the 200 freestyle. She was sixth in the state in the 500 free last spring.

Fryar’s time of 5:02.06 in the 500 was the third-fastest qualifying time.

Fannin returns to state in the 100 breaststroke after putting up the second-fastest time among call-ups at 1:07.11 after a runner-up finish at the regional meet. Overall her time is the fifth-fastest among qualifiers.

Recer made it to state for the first time in the 100 freestyle and did so with the last call-up spot at 54.04 seconds. She was third at the regional meet and was four seconds from qualifying for state in the 500 free along with Fryar.
