MANSFIELD — Sherman’s tennis team picked up three medals, including two championships, in the Mansfield High School Tiger Classic on Friday.

MANSFIELD — Sherman’s tennis team picked up three medals, including two championships, in the Mansfield High School Tiger Classic on Friday.


In the girls doubles B division, Diana and Susana Beltran were leading Mason-Spradlin of Canyon Randall 4-0 when an injury stopped the match, giving Sherman the gold medal. Along the way, the Beltrans beat Zentell-Kaiser of Burleson 8-1, Holman-Paul of Mansfield, 6-1, 6-0, and Consarcio-Rangel of Dumas, 5-7, 6-0, 10-5.


Maranda Kahl and Sarah Walker teamed up in girls A doubles to claim third place, beating Sillmer-Wan of Timber Creek 6-1, 6-3. They beat Bradshaw-Dinh of Arlington Lamar 8-0 and Wang-Alvarez of Irving High, 6-0, 6-0, before losing to Gonzales-Rosales of Dumas in the semifinals, 4-6, 7-5, 10-8.


In mixed doubles A, Chis Peine and Marie VanSant of Sherman dropped their first match to Bhruve-Aguirre of Euless Trinity, 8-5, but went on to win the consolation, beating Camacho-Camacho of Arlington Lamar, 8-3, and Denetz-Hernandez of Timber Creek, 8-2.


Sherman returns to action at Frisco Lone Star at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
