WHITESBORO — The Denison Lady Yellow Jackets captured the championship of the Maroon Bracket at the Whitesboro Tournament with an 8-4 victory over Bells following a 10-1 win in four innings against Aubrey on Saturday.

Dee Harris was 3-for-4 and scored three runs, Cassidy McDaris was 2-for-3 and drove in two runs, Bailey Nixon and Hailey Jackson each chipped in RBI as Denison took the lead for good with a four-run fifth inning against the Lady Panthers.


McDaris was 3-for-3 with four RBI and a pair of runs while Lexi Williams drove in two runs and Monica Eslick scored three times in the victory against Aubrey as the Lady Jackets had an 8-0 lead after two innings.


Nixon scattered five hits, allowing an unearned run and struck out four for Denison (3-1-1), which will face Lindsay at 11:30 a.m. and then Tom Bean at 2 p.m. at Lindsay on Thursday to open the NCTC’s Swinging for a Cure Tournament.


Championship Bracket Championship Little Elm 12, Whitesboro 7


WHITESBORO – Katie Dean homered, drove in three runs and struck out 13 for Whitesboro to earn MVP honors but Little Elm defeated the host Lady Bearcats to claim the tournament title on Saturday.


Taren Dillion homered and drove in two runs, Kacie Jones tripled and scored twice and Ashley Griffen added two hits, including a double for Whitesboro.


Whitesboro advanced to the title game with a 9-4 victory in four innings against Melissa. Dean went 2-for-3 with a double, homer, four RBI and three runs, all-tournament selection Moriah Mitcheson finished with a double, homer, two runs and two RBI and Tori Perkins chipped in two hits for the Lady Bearcats, who scored five runs in the fourth inning.


Third-place game Tom Bean 9, Melissa 5


WHITESBORO — Shelby Motley batted 3-for-3, including a bases-loaded triple in the fourth inning, as Tom Bean captured third place in the Whitesboro tournament on Saturday.


Sarah Henderson, Caroline Henderson, and Annie Bailey were named all-tournament for the Lady Cats (4-1). Bailey was 2-1 pitching and batted 8-for-10 in the tournament, and Caroline Henderson scattered five hits against Melissa (2-3).


Bailey struck out five and didn’t allow a walk in the semifinals earlier on Saturday, but Little Elm advanced with a 3-0 win. The Lady Cats were held to two hits, including a Katie Jones double.


The Lady Cats also defeated Melissa, Blue Ridge and Aubrey on Friday in pool play. They will play Melissa again on Monday at Tom Bean at 5:30 p.m.


Haley Hill doubled, Bailey Church had a pair of hits and Kelsey Smith, who was an all-tournament selection, walked twice and scored a run.


Melissa lost to Whitesboro, 9-4, in the semifinals. Church and Madison Boedeker drove in runs while Rebecca Pittman doubled and had an RBI during the loss.


Carrollton Tmt. Championship Royse City 5, Bonham 4


FARMERS BRANCH — Bonham lost to Royse City, 5-4, in the Tournament of Champions title game on Saturday.


The Lady Warriors (4-3) edged Rockwall Heath, 6-4, earlier Saturday to reach the championship game.


On Friday, Bonham defeated Carrollton Newman Smith, 15-0, after losing to San Antonio Incarnate Word, 11-5.


The Lady Warriors play Tuesday at Commerce and in NCTC’s Swinging for a Cure Tournament with games against Valley View at 11:30 a.m. and Boyd at 2 p.m. at Gainesville.


Argyle Tournament S&S 5, Argyle 3


ARGYLE — Jessika Dyke tripled and drove in three runs as S&S closed out the Argyle Tournament with a victory over the host Lady Eagles on Saturday.


Paige Porter had two hits, including a double, with an RBI while Riley Stogner added a hit and RBI for S&S.


In a 2-0 loss against Ponder on Saturday, Dyke doubled and Porter struck out 11.
