McKINNEY — Christian Casco scored a goal on a breakaway for Sherman but McKinney North defeated the Bearcats, 5-1, in District 17-4A action on Friday night.


The goal cut the deficit to 2-1 at halftime for Sherman (4-8-1, 1-2), which has the district bye and will host Lovejoy at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday for a non-district match before Prosper visits Bearcat Stadium at 7:15 p.m. on Friday to restart district action.


Prosper 6, Denison 0


PROSPER — The Yellow Jackets suffered their first regulation loss in district play after Prosper earned a shutout victory over Denison on Friday night.


The Eagles, who jumped into first place, a point up on McKinney North and two on Denison, had a 2-0 halftime lead.


The Yellow Jackets (7-4-2, 1-1-1) will host Anna at 5;30 p.m. on Tuesday night.


Girls District 17-4A Prosper 4, Denison 0


The visiting Lady Eagles scored three times in the second half to pull away for a district victory over Denison on Friday night.


Denison (4-9-2, 0-3) will close out the first half by hosting Anna at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday night and the winner will gain the upper hand for the fourth and final playoff spot going into the final four district matches.


McKinney North 7, Sherman 0


The visiting Lady Bulldogs forced a three-way tie for first place with a victory against Sherman at Bearcat Stadium on Friday night.


North joins Prosper and Sherman (6-10-1, 2-1) with six points atop the district standings. The Lady Bearcats have the district bye on Tuesday night before traveling to Prosper on Friday night.
