It was the second goal of the season for O’Brien, who gave Denison (5-9-2, 1-3) control of its playoff destiny going into the second half of district play.


Sarah McBride needed to make just three saves thanks to the defensive performance of Harley Goodin, Eunice Fallon, Kayla Spiller, Zoe Reed and Miranda Poe for the Lady Jackets, who host Durant in a non-district match at 5:30 p.m. on Friday before returning to district play at home against Sherman on Tuesday.

ANNA — The Yellow Jackets got a goal in each half to stay among the leaders in the district standings after a victory over Anna on Tuesday night.


Marcos Sauceda got his fourth goal of the year from David Sauceda in the ninth minute and Orlando Macedo scored his seventh goal in the 54th minute as the Jackets surpassed their win total from last season.


Michael Moran made six saves to earn the shutout for Denison (8-4-2, 2-1-1), which hosts Durant in a non-district match at 7:15 p.m. on Friday before returning to district play at Sherman on Tuesday.


Non-district Lovejoy 3, Sherman 0


The Sherman Bearcats stepped out of district play and suffered a non-district loss against Lovejoy on Monday night at Bearcat Stadium.


Cody McLemore scored twice for the Leopards.


Sherman (4-9-1) returns to 17-4A action when it hosts Prosper at 7:15 p.m. on Friday.
