Leonard senior running back Solomon Titus and junior lineman Dylan Pelton joined Whitesboro senior tackle Bryan Townsend as Class 2A second-team all-state selections by Texas Sports Writers Association’s Class 2A all-state football team.

Leonard senior running back Solomon Titus and junior lineman Dylan Pelton joined Whitesboro senior tackle Bryan Townsend as Class 2A second-team all-state selections by Texas Sports Writers Association’s Class 2A all-state football team.


Titus and Pelton helped the Tigers reached the Class 2A Division II state semifinals for the first time while Townsend was part of the District 5-2A (I) champion Bearcats.


Van Alstyne senior lineman Connor Mayes and Whitesboro defensive back Clayton Stringer were third-team all-state choices.


The area’s honorable mention all-state picks were: S&S senior running back Willie Winborne, Whitesboro senior Cody Ford as both an all-purpose back and kick returner, Leonard senior Ty McKinney was selected at both a kicker and punter and Pilot Point junior defensive lineman Lucas Greenwood.


Refugio quarterback Travis Quintanilla was named the Class 2A Offensive Player of the Year while Daingerfield lineman Kelshin Neal, Cisco linebacker Mason Reed and Cameron Yoe lineman Somari Wright shared Defensive Player of the Year honors.


Cameron Yoe’s Rick Rhoades and Cisco’s Brent West shared Coach of the Year honors.
