Collinsville running back John Lewis was named to the Texas Sports Writers Association’s Class 1A all-state football team on Tuesday.

Collinsville running back John Lewis was named to the Texas Sports Writers Association’s Class 1A all-state football team on Tuesday.


Lewis, a 5-foot-10, 170-pound senior, was chosen to the second team at running back and hononorable mention as a kick returner.


Lewis finished the 2013 season with 187 carries for 1,759 yards and 32 touchdowns as the Pirates finished 9-4 and advanced three rounds in the Class 1A Division I playoffs.


Wellington swept the 1A superlative awards as Wade Williams was named coach of the year, Terry Gilbreath was offensive player of the year and Edgar Tellez was defensive player of the year.
