KAUFMAN — The Sherman Lady Cats soccer team finished as runner-up in the Buffalo Wild Wings Cup on Saturday night following a 4-0 loss to Kaufman.

KAUFMAN — The Sherman Lady Cats soccer team finished as runner-up in the Buffalo Wild Wings Cup on Saturday night following a 4-0 loss to Kaufman.


Sherman (2-1-1) had to play three games on Saturday after moving the tournament from Sherman to Kaufman because of bad weather on Friday.


In the morning game, Sherman tied Princeton 0-0 with another shutout by goalkeeper Kaelee Fretwell. In the afternoon game, Sherman beat Dallas Jefferson 5-0, with goals by Paige Aleman, Kate Oelfke, Kelly Sibrian, Veronica Sosa and Sandra Carrasco-Bueño.


In the championship match, Kaufman led 3-0 at the half and added a goal late to win the tournament title. It was the highest finish in a tournament for the Lady Cats since 2007.


The Lady Cats will next play at home on Wednesday vs. Texas High.
