The Wolfe City ISD school board removed the interim tag from M.K. Hamilton earlier this week, naming him the Wolves’ head football coach and athletic director.

Hamilton, who was in his first season as an assistant, was temporarily put in charge of the program last month when head coach Travis Smith was reassigned by the school district.

Hamilton was the head coach at New Waverly in 2012 and has also been the head coach at North Dallas.

Smith went 15-17 in three seasons at Wolfe City, including an area round appearance and 6-6 mark last season. The Wolves went 5-6 this past season, finished third in District 8-A (I) and lost their bi-district game to Collinsville.

Wolfe City has not had a winning record since an 11-1 mark and region final appearance in 2006.
