DALLAS — Sarah Cantu scored 20 points as Celina defeated Wilmer-Hutchins, 62-47, in a Class 3A Region II area round contest at Dallas Conrad on Friday night.


The Lady Bobcats (27-6) will face District 10-3A rival Frisco Lone Star in a region quarterfinal contest at 7 p.m. on Tuesday at Allen. It’s a rematch of last year’s quarterfinal, which Lone Star won to knock Celina out of the playoffs.


Kynese Davis added 19 points and K.J. Stastny chipped in nine points for Celina, which took control of the game by outscoring Wilmer-Hutchins by eight in the second quarter for an 11-point advantage at the break.


Kamilah Williams had 18 points to lead Wilmer-Hutchins (23-5).


Class 1A-I Region II Honey Grove 50, Era 43, OT


McKINNEY — Elizabeth Johnson had 19 points as Honey Grove defeated Era in overtime in an area-round game at McKinney Boyd High School on Friday.


Allyiah Daniels scored 11 points, Natalie Ferguson had nine and Lyndsey Lewis added seven for Honey Grove (23-2), which will play Triple-A Academy in the regional quarterfinals this week.


Alex Gibbons also had four points for Honey Grove, which outscored Era, 9-2, in overtime for its first postseason win since 2011.


Sam Rayburn 43, Itasca 37


PLANO — Heather Mason had 14 points and 10 rebounds as Sam Rayburn advanced in the 1A Division I Region II playoffs with a win against Itasca on Friday night at Plano Senior High School.


Keely Spence also had a strong night with 13 points, six steals and five assists for the Lady Rebels (21-8). Kaylee Waldrop added six rebounds and three assists, and Kelcie McBroom had four assists.


The Lady Rebels will take on Muenster in the Region II quarterfinals on Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Pottsboro.


Triple A Academy 73, Celeste 35


ROYSE CITY — Jalisa Phillips scored 13 points for Celeste but Triple A Academy defeated the Lady Blue Devils in an area round game on Friday night.


Sarah Myers added nine points and Tiffany Crossland finished with seven points for Celeste (17-11).


Triple A Academy (23-5), which pulled away by outscoring Celeste 27-4 in the third quarter, will face Honey Grove in the region quarterfinals this week.
