BELLS — Tori Perkins struck out 18 and allowed just one hit as Whitewright opened District 11-2A action with an 8-0 victory over Bells on Tuesday night.


Perkins worked around a single and three walks while Sydney Brummett wast 4-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored for Whitewright (12-0, 1-0), which faces Dodd City at 7 p.m. on Thursday to start the Frisco Liberty Tournament.


Non-district Gunter 15, Ector 14


ECTOR — Kaylee Schmitz’s grand slam in the fifth inning tied the game and helped Gunter rally for a non-district win at Ector on Tuesday night.


Gunter trailed 10-6 when Schmitz’s homer pulled the Lady Tigers even. Schmitz was 4-for-4 with five RBI and three runs, Megan Bullard was 3-for-4 and scored four times and Ashleigh Holcomb was 4-for-5 with three doubles and four RBI for Gunter (2-4).


Dodd City 11, Melissa 8


MELISSA — Jenna Wallace, Logan Rencher and Katelynn Woodlee each collected two hits as Dodd City defeated Melissa in non-district action on Tuesday night.


Tiffani Abbott was the winning pitcher and Jenna earned a save tossing two scoreless innings for Dodd City, which will face Whitewright at 7 p.m. on Thursday at the Frisco Liberty Tournament.


Keonni Conkle had five hits and two RBI while Kelsey Smith finished with three hits and drove in a run for Melissa (4-8), which will face Bells at 11 a.m. on Thursday to start the Trenton Tournament. The Lady Cardinals were down 7-0 before cutting the gap to 10-8 in the fifth inning.


Bonham 5, Emory Rains 3


EMORY — Senior Kenzie Rattan hit an RBI double to go 2-for-2 as Bonham defeated Rains on Monday in non-district play.


Freshman Sidney Sewell had eight strikeouts, walked two and allowed three runs and nine hits in the win for Bonham, which had eight hits.


Bonham benefited from nine stranded Rains runners.


Baseball Non-district Leonard 5, Bonham 4 (5)


LEONARD — Laine Albert scored what turned out to the winning run in Leonard’s victory in five innings over Bonham on Tuesday night.


Albert also came away with the victory while Ryan Nixon tripled and scored twice for the Tigers.


Bonham scored twice in the top of the fifth but Mason Sargent was able to picked up the save for Leonard (4-0), which will play at Prairiland on Friday.


Ryan Prock had a triple for Bonham (2-3), which opens play at the Ferris/Palmer Tournament on Thursday.
