Tate Truly had 13 points to lead the Eagles and Harold Johnson, a transfer from Sherman, added 11 points in his first basketball game for TCS.

Princeton 64, Whitesboro 63, OT

PRINCETON — Led by Ryan Schuessler’s 21 points, Whitesboro rallied to force overtime, but the host Panthers prevailed to spoil the Bearcats’ season debut.

Stefan Hammon, Hayden Nikirk and Timothy Teater all added 10 points for Whitesboro, which trailed 29-25 at the half and 43-42 at the end of three quarters.

Dennis Lockman scored 16 and Leye Oyatayo added 10 for Princeton (1-0), which, like Whitesboro, is still in football and without a full roster of players.

Sam Rayburn 59, McK. Christian 32

IVANHOE — Kelvin Cockrell scored 18 points as Sam Rayburn opened its season with a non-district victory against McKinney Christian on Tuesday night.

Devin Hawley added 16 and Kit Sanders finished with 10 points for Sam Rayburn, which will face Slidell at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday in the opening round of the Campbell Tournament.

Bland 56, Ector 31

ECTOR — Brett Pearson scored 10 points for Ector but Bland defeated the Eagles in the season-opener on Tuesday night.

Colby Ward added nine points while Tristan Hughes and Trent Jones each finished with four points for Ector, which will travel to Trenton for another non-district game next Tuesday night.
