BLUE RIDGE — Kinzie Garcia scored 12 points as Blue Ridge rallied to defeat Merit Bland, 38-33, in the District 15-A opener on Tuesday night.


Kendyl White added 10 points, Kaylie Kennin chipped in eight points and Torey Crosswhite finished with seven points for Blue Ridge (6-2, 1-0), which plays at Trenton on Friday.


District 16-A (I) Honey Grove 48, McLeod 20


HONEY GROVE — Elizabeth Johnson had 10 points and seven rebounds and Allyiah Daniels also scored 10 with four rebounds as Honey Grove defeated McLeod to open district play.


Natalie Ferguson added nine points and joined Lyndsey Lewis with nine rebounds for Honey Grove (10-1, 1-0), which led 32-11 at halftime.


Jada Redd and Whitney Smith also had five points each for Honey Grove, which continues district play Friday at Detroit.


Non-district Dodd City 55, Sulphur Bluff 20


SULPHUR BLUFF — Keeshia Thompson had 16 points and five assists during Dodd City’s win at Sulphur Bluff.


Lauren Hilliard and Jenna Wallace each scored 10 points for Dodd City (4-6), which led 23-11 at halftime.


Logan Rencher added eight points and Fallon Hilliard had seven for Dodd City, which hosts Texoma Christian on Friday.


Boys Non-district Honey Grove 38, Fannindel 29


HONEY GROVE — Jacob Price had 14 points and 11 rebounds as Honey Grove defeated Fannindel.


Jeremy Patt added 10 rebounds, seven points, five steals and two assists for Honey Grove (2-6), which held Fannindel to only 14 points during the last three quarters.


Andrew Martin scored 10 points with four steals and four rebounds for Honey Grove, which starts District 16-A (I) play on Friday at Detroit.


Stephen Lock led Fannindel with 13 points, nine rebounds and three steals, hitting 6-of-10 from the field.
