POTTSBORO — A platoon of pitchers helped Leonard beat Community, 10-7, on Saturday to claim the Pottsboro Tournament title.


Ryan Nixon got the win for Leonard (3-0), but Lane Albert, Ty McKinney and Mason Sargent each chipped in to slow Community’s bats.


Albert finished 2-for-3 at the plate with three runs batted in, while Dylan Monck went 2-for-2 and scored two runs and Brent Hicks went 2-for-4 with an RBI.


Leonard thumped Krum, 12-0, in tourney action on Friday. Colson Coheley went 2-for-2 with five RBI and Ty McKinney went 3-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored. Blake Cummings went 2-for-2 with two doubles and two runs for the Tigers, who play at home against Bonham on Tuesday.


Paradise 8, Bonham 6


POTTSBORO — The Purple Warriors closed out the Pottsboro Tournament with a loss against Paradise on Saturday.


Bonham defeated Bells, 15-1, in five innings during tourney action on Friday. Greg Moses had four RBI and three hits, including a two-run single and RBI double, on Friday. Jordan Quintana also hit a two-run single, while Nathan Butcher singled in one.


Cole Sparks struck out five and allowed one hit and a run to get the win in 2 1/3 innings relief of starter Clay Clemons, who allowed two hits and no earned runs with four strikeouts.


Celina Tournament Amarillo 2, Gunter 0


CELINA — Rhett Taylor recorded Gunter’s only hit in a shutout loss to Amarillo High to wrap up play at the Celina Tournament Saturday. Anthony Knight struck out four batters, and only one of the two runs he allowed was earned through five innings of work.


In tournament action on Friday, Gunter picked up a 9-1 victory Garland Lakeview. Troy Watson allowed just one hit, struck out six and walked two in five innings while Ben Fisher went 2-for-3 with three RBI and both Reagan McDonald and Taylor each finished 2-for-3.


Celina’s Preston Morse went 4-for-4 and hit a walk-off, inside-the-park home run to hand the Tigers a 5-4 loss in their second game on Friday. Taylor and Nate Yansky each went 2-for-4 while Reid Bolin 2-for-3.


Gunter (3-3) will open its tournament at 10 a.m. on Thursday against Aubrey, followed by a 12:15 p.m. game against Iowa Park.
