DALLAS — Despite shooting more than 50 percent from the floor and hitting 14 3-pointers as a team, Southeastern suffered its first loss of the season, 89-80, to Dallas Baptist on Tuesday night.

The loss drops the Savage Storm to 4-1 on the season heading into the St. Mary’s Thanksgiving Classic where they will face Emporia State at 5 p.m. on Friday and Central Missouri at 5 p.m. on Saturday. The games will be played in San Antonio.

SOSU put three players in double figures led by John Balwigaire, who posted a season-high 21 points, while Taylor Smaller and Quinton Threadgill each turned in 18 points.

That was unfortunately not enough to overcome the night the Patriots’ Jonathan Perry posted, hitting 15-of-20 from the field with five 3s to go with a 12-for-14 night at the free-throw line and finish with 47 points. He was the only DBU player in double-digits.
