All of the scoring came in the second half. Harrison Talley assisted on two goals, Humberto Ortiz finished with a goal and Michael Moran made three saves for Denison, which faces Wylie at 7 p.m. tonight at the Center Street fields to continue tournament action and then plays Gainesville at 1 p.m. on Saturday.


Sherman 3, Denison JV 0


The Bearcats opened their tournament and the season with a 3-0 victory against Denison’s junior varsity on Thursday night at Bearcat Stadium.


Sherman will continue the tournament today at 5 p.m. against McKinney North at Bearcats Stadium and faces North Lamar at 1 p.m. on Saturday at Bearcat Stadium.


Princeton Tournament


Bonham goes 0-1-1


PRINCETON — Bonham opened the first season in school history with a tie and a loss at the Princeton tournament on Thursday.


The Purple Warriors tied Burkburnett, 0-0, and lost to Princeton, 6-0, in tournament action.


Girls


BWW Varsity Cup


Kate Oelfke had two goals and two assists as Sherman opened its tournament with a 6-0 victory against Bonham on Thursday night at Bearcat Stadium.


Kelly Sibrian scored and Sandra Carrasco-Bueno added two goals as Sherman opened a 3-0 half-time lead.


Oelfke had both of her goals in the second half, one on a penalty kick, Sami Powers chipped in a goal and Veronica Sosa added an assist for Sherman, which continues tourney action tonight at 7 p.m. against Princeton at Bearcat Stadium and then faces Dallas Jefferson at 11 a.m. on Saturday at Bearcat Stadium.


It was the first game in school history for Bonham, which continues the tournament today at 5 p.m. against Kaufman at the Center Street fields.


Kaufman 6, Denison 0


The Denison Lady Yellow Jackets opened the season with a shutout loss against Kaufman in Sherman’s Buffalo Wild Wings Varsity Cup on Thursday night at the Center Street fields.


Harley Goodin, Angel O’Brien and Angela Moreno had strong efforts for Denison, which fell behind 3-0 at half-time.


The Lady Jackets continue tournament action at Center Street tonight at 7:30 p.m. against Dallas Jefferson and at 11 a.m. on Saturday against Bonham.


TAPPS Division III District 1


Texoma Christian 1, Irving Highlands 0


Megan Davies scored 12 minutes into the second half to lift Texoma Christian to a district victory over Irving Highlands on Thursday afternoon.


Caroline Hanson assisted on the goal and Sydney Truly made five saves to earn the shutout for Texoma Christian (1-1, 1-1), which plays at Dallas Covenant on Monday.
