The Austin College men’s basketball team knocked off Schreiner University 79-66 on Friday, earning their first Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference win of the year while also handing the Mountaineers their first conference loss of the season.

Ransom Okpala finished with 19 points and seven rebounds to lead four ‘Roos (5-9, 1-4) in double digits. Austin Freet recorded a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds, and Brian Baehl and Cody Meyers each scored 10 in the victory as Austin College hit 9-of-20 3-pointers as a team.


AJ Myres led all scorers with 27 to lead the Mountaineers, and Stevan Guerrero added 15 points, seven boards, and three assists in the loss.


Austin College will be looking to make it two in a row in conference when they host Texas Lutheran today at 1 p.m.
