Former Texas Rangers Jim Sundberg, Steve Buechele and Kevin Mench will headline the Texoma Baseball Academy’s winter baseball camp next weekend.

The trio will be on hand to help provide instruction from 10 a.m.-noon on Dec. 14 with the three-hour camp starting that morning at 9 a.m. at the Texas Baseball Academy in A-Alpha Business Park at 407 Coffin St. in Denison.

"We’re putting the word out and taking verbal commitments on the phone from people," co-owner Mike Ramsey said. "Hopefully it can be a bigger thing."

The camp continues on Dec. 15 from 1-4 p.m. with special guest instructor, former Sherman baseball coach Danny Florence from Frozen Ropes.

The camp is for players ages 8-12 and costs $60. Those interested in participating can contact Ramsey at bigsky15@gmail.com or 903-203-1265.

Sundberg played for Texas, Milwaukee, Kansas City and the Chicago Cubs from 1974-89. He was a three-time all-star, six-time Gold Glove winning catcher who won a World Series with the Royals in 1985 and was named to the Rangers Hall of Fame in 2003.

Buechele had an 11-season career with the Rangers, Cubs and Pittsburgh from 1985-95 while Mench’s nine-season career spanned 2002-2010 with Texas, Milwaukee, Toronto and Washington.
