ROYSE CITY — Seniors Jayzhia Softly and Sa’Liesha Hunter combined for 44 points on Friday night as Sherman rolled to a 70-41 road win over Royse City in District 13-4A action.


Softly finished with 24 points and Hunter added 20 as the Lady Cats (5-8, 3-1) stayed in a three-way tie for second place in the district heading into the Christmas break. J’Lyn Wash added eight points.


The Lady Cats romped from the start, taking a 23-9 lead at the end of the first period and a 42-18 advantage at the half.


The Lady Cats will host the Sherman Holiday Tournament beginning on Thursday and will take on Howe at 1:30 p.m. and North Lamar at 7:30 in pool play.


District 11-2A Howe 59, T. Bean 43


TOM BEAN — Riley Harvey had 16 points and six rebounds as Howe defeated Tom Bean in district action on Friday night.


Alissa Smith scored 13 points, Holly Hawkins added 12 points and Aurian James finished with five points and seven assists for Howe (7-4, 4-0), which will face Sherman at 1:30 p.m. and McKinney Boyd at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday in the Sherman Holiday Invitational.


Katie Jones had 15 points and four rebounds, Sarah Henderson added 14 points and seven rebounds and Ramie Byers finished with five points for Tom Bean.


Pottsboro 47, Callisburg 36


CALLISBURG — Macie O’Hanlon had 16 points, six steals and three assists, leading Pottsboro to a road win over Callisburg.


Justus Malone added 10 points and three assists, and Tatum Marburger had five assists and four steals for the Lady Cardinals (13-4, 3-1).


Pottsboro will open the Leonard tournament against Pilot Point at 4:20 p.m. on Thursday.


District 15-A (I) Sam Rayburn 53, Trenton 45


IVANHOE — Heather Mason had 16 points, 11 rebounds, five steals and four assists as Sam Rayburn defeated Trenton in district action on Friday night.


Courtney Clark added nine points, six rebounds and four steals, Ashley Vance scored nine points and Keely Spence and Kaylee Waldrop chipped in six points apiece for Sam Rayburn (11-4, 3-1), which will compete in the College Station McDonald’s Tournament this weekend.


Jordan Withrow scored 17 points, Bria Green added 15 points and Kelli Connelly totaled seven points for Trenton.


District 16-A (I) Honey Grove 59, Simms Bowie 24


HONEY GROVE — Natalie Ferguson had 14 points, Elizabeth Johnson and Lyndsey Lewis scored 12 each and Honey Grove had 20 steals during Friday’s district win over Simms James Bowie.


Allyiah Daniels had eight steals and seven points, while Johnson added six steals for Honey Grove (13-1, 4-0), which held Bowie scoreless in the third quarter.


Page Patrick totaled five rebounds for Honey Grove, which hosts Collinsville on Friday in non-district play.


District 22-A (II) Dodd City 46, Savoy 28


SAVOY — Taylor Keen had six points and three rebounds for Savoy but Dodd City defeated the Lady Cardinals in the district opener for both teams on Friday night.


Keara Isom added five points and Lindsey Stone and Hanna White chipped in four points apiece for Savoy.


Madill Tournament Championship Gunter 59, Madill 47


MADILL, Okla. — Regan Hestand had 19 points, eight rebounds and four steals as Gunter defeated Madill to finish its undefeated run at the Madill Tournament, which had been rescheduled from two weeks ago due to icy weather.


Mackenzie Mazerolle finished with 17 points, four assists and four steals, Mikayla Watson added 11 points and five steals and Emily Bruner grabbed eight rebounds for Gunter (12-4), which will face Plano East in the Prosper Tournament on Friday.


In tournament action on Friday, Hestand scored 13 points in a 49-35 victory over Dickson. Jaimie Hughes added 10 points, Watson chipped in nine points and Bruner scored seven points.
