The Lady Cats (2-7) erupted for 31 points in the second period to take a 39-35 halftime lead, but they couldn’t keep up the pace.

Jayzhia Softly added 16 points and Mary Kate Motley scored a dozen for Sherman. Hunter, who scored 31 in the Lady Cats’ victory last Tuesday over Howe, has hit for 25 or more four times this season.

The Lady Cats will compete in the McKinney ISD tournament beginning Thursday.

Melissa 70, Lovejoy 58

MELISSA — Whitney Taylor scored 13 of her team-high 21 points in the first quarter as Melissa defeated Lovejoy in non-district action on Tuesday night.

Katie Webb scored 18 points, Keonni Conkle added eight points and Megan Conlin chipped in eight points for Melissa (5-0), which will face North Mesquite at 1 p.m. on Thursday in the Royse City Tournament.

Shani Rainey had 25 points in the loss for Lovejoy.

Gunter 66, Howe 43

HOWE — Regan Hestand scored 21 points as Gunter defeated Howe in non-district action on Tuesday night.

Jaimie Hughes added 14 points while Breana Adkins and Emily Bruner chipped in 12 points apiece for Gunter (6-4).

Riley Harvey had 21 points to lead Howe.

Anna 50, T. Bean 45

ANNA — Dee Moreno scored 25 points as Anna defeated Tom Bean in non-district action on Tuesday night.

Mikaela Gililland added 11 points and Jaci Richardson finished with eight points for Anna (6-4).

Katie Jones scored 14 points to go with six rebounds and five assists, Ramie Byers had 11 points, and Sarah Henderson totaled 10 points and 15 rebounds for Tom Bean.

Pottsboro 39, Bonham 32

BONHAM — Justus Malone had 12 points and six rebounds as Pottsboro defeated Bonham in non-district action on Tuesday night.

Lindsey Evans added 11 points and Jordan Slagle chipped in six points for Pottsboro, which plays at Howe on Tuesday night to open District 11-2A action.

Kayla Sanmann led Bonham with 10 points while Madeline Dolberry chipped in eight points.

Whitesboro 51, Van Alstyne 44

WHITESBORO — Kristen McCanlies had 14 points, six rebounds and three steals as Whitesboro defeated Van Alstyne in non-district action on Tuesday night.

Terilyn Bufkin added 10 points, five steals and three rebounds, Alexus Vanlandingham chipped in nine points, 11 rebounds, five assists and five steals, Ashley Cooper scored nine points and Kristen Phelps finished with eight points, four rebounds and three steals for Whitesboro.

Bells 52, Leonard 50

LEONARD — Katie Branam had 17 points, seven rebounds and four assists as Bells edged Leonard in non-district action on Tuesday night.

Katie Shults scored 11 points, Macy Sanders added seven points and Carlee Shelby finished with six points, eight rebounds and four assists for Bells (8-2).

Kimmy Blackburn scored 26 points to lead Leonard.

B. Ridge 46, Ector 26

BLUE RIDGE — Torey Crosswhite scored 15 points as Blue Ridge defeated Ector in non-district action on Tuesday night.

Kaylie Kennon and Kendyl White added nine points apiece while Kinzie Garcia chipped in seven points for Blue Ridge.

Honey Grove 48, Callisburg 22

HONEY GROVE — Natalie Ferguson had 14 points and four steals during Honey Grove’s win over Callisburg in non-district play on Tuesday.

Allyiah Daniels finished with nine points, seven steals, four rebounds and three assists for Honey Grove (9-1), which took an 18-2 lead after one quarter.

Elizabeth Johnson had eight rebounds, six points and three steals for Honey Grove, which opens play Thursday in the Celeste Tournament.

Dodd City 44, Merit Bland 35

MERIT — Keeshia Thompson had 15 points and Jenna Wallace scored 13 as Dodd City overcame a slow start to defeat Bland in non-district play on Tuesday.

Lauren Hilliard added eight points for Dodd City, which trailed 15-5 after one quarter before allowing only 20 points the rest of the way.

Lindsay 34, Whitewright 33

WHITEWRIGHT — Anna Shope had eight points and Sydney Brummett scored seven but Whitewright’s fourth-quarter rally fell short against Lindsay in non-district play on Tuesday.

Hatty Shope garnered 6 points and Landry Rhoten added five for Whitewright (5-5), which resumes play Tuesday at Bells to start District 11-2A play.
