FRISCO — Denison’s Tori Fryar came away with a victory and a runner-up finish at the Frisco Invitational swim meet on Saturday.

FRISCO — Denison’s Tori Fryar came away with a victory and a runner-up finish at the Frisco Invitational swim meet on Saturday.


Fryar won the 500 freestyle, the event she qualified for state last year, in 5:21.48 — nearly nine seconds faster than the runner-up — and was second in the 200 free with a time of 1:59.87, just behind the winning time of 1:59.58 by Frisco’s April McDonough. Pottsboro’s Laney Recer was third in 2:01.38.


Fryar teamed with Ariel Haskett, Haeleigh Morgan and Martha Hayes to earn eighth in the 400 freestyle relay in 4:25.57. The quartet was 12th in the 200 medley relay.


Hayes also was 9th in the 100 freestyle and 11th in the 200 free as the Lady Jackets placed ninth in the team standings.


On the boys side, Davis Looney set a school record with a fourth-place finished in the 500 freestyle at 5:09.09 and he also was fourth in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:56.25.


Denison returns to action in the TISCA North Texas 4A Invitational on Dec. 13-14 at Frisco.


Gunter’s Madeline Rowe was eighth in the 500 freestyle and 18th in the 100 backstroke.


Celina’s Berlin Clemens was eighth in the 100 free style and ninth in the 50 freestyle.


Dodd City’s Wyatt Fannin placed fifth in the 100 breaststroke at 1:05.32 and he was eighth in the 100 freestyle.
