FORT SMITH, Ark. — Southeastern Oklahoma State opened its midweek series with a 3-0 shutout victory over Arkansas-Fort Smith, but the Savage Storm dropped Game 2, 9-2, in non-conference action on Tuesday.


Jonathan Furlong allowed five hits while striking out four in six innings and Mason Crenshaw picked up his fifth save of the season.


Collin Sefcik was 3-for-3 with a run scored, while Jacob Carter, Chance Burcham and Cade Clay each collected hits and RBI.


Jacob Soisson turned in the only multi-hit outing by going 2-for-3, while Carter and Cody Coats each drove in a run during the Game 2 loss.


The Savage Storm (10-12) start a three-game Great American Conference series at Southern Nazarene this weekend.
