DURANT — A day after being stung in it home opener, No. 10 Southeastern Oklahoma State bounced back with a pair of wins over Newman, taking the opener, 9-1, in six innings before winning the finale, 3-2, on Sunday afternoon.

DURANT — A day after being stung in it home opener, No. 10 Southeastern Oklahoma State bounced back with a pair of wins over Newman, taking the opener, 9-1, in six innings before winning the finale, 3-2, on Sunday afternoon.

In the opener, Courtney Riddle hit a pair of home runs with five RBI and three runs, Conner Harmon adding a solo blast and Sydney Kramer finished 4-for-4 with an RBI and three runs scored.

Mindy McElroy tossed a complete game, allowing a run on three hits with five strikeouts.

Shaina Crites scored on an error while Riddle and Whitney Hamilton followed with RBI singles.

Jacee Bennett stopped Newman’s rally in the seventh after the Jets scored twice but threw the tying run out at home to end the game.

The Savage Storm (5-4) open Great American Conference play at Ouachita Baptist on Saturday.
