TISHOMINGO, Okla. — The Grayson College softball team opened its season by splitting a non-conference double-header against Murray State College on Friday afternoon.


The Lady Vikings won the opener, 9-0, in six innings before losing Game 2, 3-2, in nine innings.


Jordan Gundersen allowed just a single and two walks while striking out three and went 3-for-4 with two RBI.


Nina Castillo and Alicia Weber each went 3-for-4 with a pair of RBI


In the second game, Rachel Sutton’s pinch-hit RBI single with two out in the seventh forced extra innings but Murray State eventually pushed across the winning run.


Kaitlynn Callier had RBI single, Chelsey Trejo was 2-for-4 and Courtnee Jones struck out seven in nine innings for Grayson (1-1), which is scheduled to host a double-header against Western Texas College at 1 p.m. on Wednesday.
