WHITESBORO — Taryn Gaines had 10 kills and three blocks as the Denison Lady Yellow Jackets opened the season with a 17-25, 25-23, 25-16, 20-25, 15-12 victory against Whitesboro on Tuesday night.


Laney Muirhead added nine kills, Madison Chambless chipped in five kills and 13 digs, Kenzie Clark handed out 26 assists, Shaniya Butler put down five aces to go with 12 digs, Hannah Bilderback finished with 10 digs and Lindsey Dawes collected 22 digs for Denison, which will compete in the Denton Tournament starting on Thursday.


Bailey Galewaler had 14 kills and 11 digs to pace Whitesboro while Maggie McCorkle totaled 10 kills, 19 assists and 15 digs, Sierra Parks finished with eight kills and four digs, Aubri Falco put down six kills and Elly Harper handed out seven assists for the Lady Bearcats.


Howe def. Dodd City 3-1


DODD CITY — Jenna Honore had nine kills and four digs as Howe opened the season with a 25-21, 25-20, 20-25, 25-22 victory against Dodd City on Tuesday.


Kaylin Bouse contributed five aces, four kills and four blocks, Gianna Henry put down five kills, Cassidy Anderson totaled four aces, three kills and eight assists, Kylie Hopper handed out 10 assists and Molly Wilson finished with three aces, three kills and nine digs for the Lady Bulldogs.


Sarah Brent had five kills and six digs, Journie Hilliard added four kills and five blocks, Delaney Pilliod handed out 10 assists to go with a pair of kills, Cassandra Woodlee chipped in two kills and five digs and Paizley Vaught collected four digs for Dodd City.


Blue Ridge def. S&S 3-0


SADLER — Ellery Martin had 11 kills, 14 digs and eight blocks as Blue Ridge defeated S&S, 25-16, 25-10, 26-24, to open its season 2-0 on Tuesday.


Cierra Spurgin added six kills and three blocks, Kylie Mathers totaled five kills and 12 digs, Abigail Sullivan put down five kills, Kailea Jenkins finished with 17 assists, Dakota Deckard handed out 10 assists and Taylor Langwell collected 21 digs for the Lady Tigers, who play in the Princeton Tournament starting on Friday.


Blue Ridge also had a 25-10, 25-16, 25-18 victory over Trenton. Mathers had 10 kills and 13 digs, Martin chipped in six kills, five blocks and 12 digs, Spurgin totaled six kills and three blocks, Jenkins handed out 17 assists, Deckard contributed 10 assists and Langwell collected 18 digs.


Trenton also had a 22-25, 9-25, 25-15, 27-25, 15-17 loss against S&S. Over the two loses Maddyson Lavoie totaled 21 kills and 12 digs, Gracie Holden finished with 30 assists and 10 digs, Gabby Edwards finished with 16 kills and six digs and Carly Stone had 16 digs for Trenton, which is at the Detroit Tournament on Thursday.


Bells def. Tioga 3-0


TIOGA — Bella Smith had eight kills, five digs and four blocks as Bells began its season with a 25-19, 25-20, 26-24 victory against Tioga on Tuesday.


Alexis Grove added six kills and Cheyenne Floyd totaled 19 assists and three kills for Bells.


Melissa def. McKinney North 3-1


MELISSA — The Melissa Lady Cardinals opened the season with a 25-18, 25-19, 21-25, 25-21 victory at home against McKinney North on Tuesday night.


Melissa will compete at the Pearland Tournament starting on Thursday.


Callisburg def. Aubrey 3-0


AUBREY — The Callisburg Lady Wildcats started the season with a 25-19, 25-16, 25-14 over Aubrey on Tuesday night.


Callisburg will compete in the ASC Nike Classic in Lewisville starting on Thursday. The Lady Wildcats face Nocona at noon, Commerce at 2 p.m. and Celina at 5 p.m. in Pool 1 play.


Valley View def. Gainesville 3-0


GAINESVILLE — The Gainesville Lady Leopards opened the season with a 25-23, 25-11, 25-20 loss against Valley View on Tuesday night.


Gainesville returns to action when it hosts Saint Jo on Tuesday.


McKinney Christian def. Whitewright 3-0


McKINNEY — The Whitewright Lady Tigers opened the season with a 16-25, 17-25, 10-25 loss against McKinney Christian on Tuesday.


Whitewright will compete in the Paris Chisum Tournament starting on Friday.


Frisco Independence def. Celina 3-2


CELINA — The Celina Lady Bobcats opened the season with a 25-21, 25-20, 15-25, 30-32, 14-16 loss against Frisco Independence on Tuesday.


Celina will compete in the ASC Nike Classic in Lewisville starting on Thursday.
