Austin College head baseball coach Mike Ramsey has been tabbed to work as an assistant coach in the 57th Annual Congressional Baseball Game for Charity on June 14 at Nationals Park in Washington, D.C.

Roger Williams, from the 25th Congressional District in Texas, selected Ramsey to help coach the Republican team in this bi-partisan event. The game has been played off and on since 1909, allowing members of the United States Congress to establish and enhance friendships off the floor and on the field. The game will be televised live on C-SPAN with first pitch set for 6:05 p.m. Central.

“I’m excited that Congressman Williams invited me to participate as a member of his coaching staff,” Ramsey said. “Roger and I go way back to my days as a ballplayer at Texas Christian University. It is a great honor for me to represent my family and ‘Roo Nation at the Congressional Baseball Game.”

Ramsey, who was an All-American at TCU and is a member of the TCU Athletics Hall of Fame, will coach the team’s hitters as well as the outfield defense while Frisco native Donnie Watson will work with the pitching staff for Congressman Williams.
