AUSTIN — The Pottsboro boys have the lead after the first round of the Class 3A state tournament at Lions Municipal Golf Course on Monday and are half-way to a championship heading into the final round on Tuesday.
The Cardinals, who were third last year, shot a combined 309 and are 13 shots ahead of Troup and 16 in front of Diana New Diana.
Austyn Reily led Pottsboro with a 69 and has the individual lead with a four-shot advantage over Brock’s Garrett Leak, who opened with a 73. Georgetown Gateway’s Ethan Miller is in third with a 74.
Hayden Kent is tied for fifth after shooting a 77, Garrett Townsend carded an 80 and is tied for 18th, Jack Estes finished with an 83 and is tied for 28th and Nathan Halfmann shot a 100 and is tied for 58th.
Callisburg’s Justin Crisp is tied for 34th after opening with an 87.
The Tioga boys are in seventh place after the first round of the Class 1A state tournament at Lions Municipal Golf Course on Monday.
The Bulldogs are five shots outside the top five behind Leakey (395) and Matador Motley County (391) going into final round Tuesday. Blanket has the lead with a 352.
Josiah Deleon led Tioga with an 89 and is 14th, Carter Sinclair shot a 91 and is tied for 16th, John Payne and Cade Kimbrell each finished with a 108 and are tied for 53rd and Seth Deleon carded a 110 and is 58th.
Blanket’s Luke Kinkade has the individual lead with a 71.
