MELISSA — Brady Morrison was 2-for-4 with a double, drove in a run and scored twice as Melissa opened its Class 4A Region II bi-district series with a 7-2 home victory against Caddo Mills on Thursday night.


Melissa (23-9) will try to close out the series tonight at 7 p.m. at Caddo Mills. If the Foxes stave off elimination, Game 3 will be 2 p.m. on Saturday at Plano Prestonwood.


Andrew Cole scattered five hits and a walk to go with four strikeouts, Tyler Womack homered and scored three times, Bobby Houston was 2-for-2 and drove in a run, Tate Whittington drove in two runs and Adam Davis doubled, drove in a run and scored for the Cardinals.

WYLIE — Crandall earned a walk-off victory against Anna on a one-out error in the opener of a Class 4A Region II bi-district series at Wylie on Thursday night.A


Anna (17-11) will look to keep its season alive with a victory in Game 2 tonight at 7 p.m. at Wylie. A third game, if necessary, would be at 2 p.m. on Saturday.


Zach Howard allowed an unearned run on three hits and two walks while Howard, Jaden Adams, Rawley Hector and Jacob Williams singled for the Coyotes.

ANNA — Scout Sanders drove in three runs and earned victory with nine strikeouts as Whitesboro opened its Class 3A Region II bi-district series with a win over Howe on Thursday night.


Whitesboro (17-3) will look to advance to the area round in Game 2 tonight at 7:30 p.m. at Anna. If Howe (12-8) staves off elimination, Game 3 will be at noon on Saturday at Anna.


Cody Wolf was 2-for-4, Weston Hickman tripled, drove in a run and scored, Grant Beste scored twice, Riley Dickson doubled and drove in a run and Noah Greisen singled and scored twice for the Bearcats.


Cirby Coheley was 2-for-3 and drove in a run, Peyton Reagan doubled and drove in a run and Cade Courtney And Spencer Akins each singled and scored for Howe.

MELISSA — Coby Langford scattered four hits and a walk to go with nine strikeouts and also doubled and scored as Pottsboro opened its Class 3A Region II bi-district series with a victory over Farmersville on Thursday night.


Pottsboro (18-5) will look to advance with a victory in Game 2 tonight at 5 p.m. at Melissa. If Farmersville (11-14) staves off elimination, a third game would immediately follow.


Jackson Lipscomb was 2-for-3, Cooper Lyons singled, drove in a run and scored, Jasek Hooker and Will Cates each tripled and drove in a run and Cy Shope scored twice for the Cardinals.

FRISCO — Jordan Velekei combined with Chandler David and Rhett Gallagher on a one-hitter as Van Alstyne opened its Class 3A Region II bi-district series with a victory over Pilot Point at Frisco Liberty on Thursday night.


Van Alstyne (15-6) will look to advance with a victory in Game 2 tonight at 7 p.m. at Liberty. If Pilot Point (6-20) staves off elimination, Game 3 would be noon on Saturday at Liberty.


Hunter Hutchison was 2-for-3 with a double, triple and scored, Gallagher tripled and drove in a run, Chase Wilson walked and scored and Nathan Cuthbertson singled and drove in a run for the Panthers.


Bryson Griffin doubled for the Bearcats’ only hit while Matthew Johnson walked and scored and Reid McGuire drove in a run for Pilot Point.

PROSPER — The Melissa Lady Cardinals were eliminated from the playoffs with a Class 4A Region II area round loss against Decatur on Thursday night.


Melissa (16-9) managed just three hits in defeat. Decatur (21-3) advances to face either Bonham or Krum in the region quarterfinals next week.

HEATH — The Pilot Point Lady Bearcats opened their Class 3A Region II area round series with a victory against Edgewood at Rockwall Heath on Thursday night.


Pilot Point (27-6) will look to advance in Game 2 tonight at 5:30 p.m. at Heath. If Edgewood staves off elimination, a third game would immediately follow.

FORT WORTH — The Collinsville Lady Pirates opened their playoffs with a run-rule victory against Moody in the series opener of a Class 2A Region II area round series at Fort Worth Brewer on Thursday night.


Collinsville (24-3) will look to advance to the region quarterfinals with a victory in Game 2 at 6 p.m. on Friday. If Moody staves off elimination, a third game will follow.
