TRENTON — Justin Lambright threw a no-hitter with 13 strikeouts and one walk and was 2-for-3 and drove in a run as Trenton beat Wolfe City, 10-6, in six innings in a Class 2A Region II bi-district match-up on Wednesday night in a game moved up due to the threat of inclement weather.
Trenton (16-6) will face either Muenster or Quanah in the area round next week.
Zackary Cranford homered, drove in two runs and scored twice, Kaiden West doubled, drove in a run and scored, Nick Lozano doubled and drove in a run, Jordy Caro walked twice and scored twice and Effrin Aguirre and Chase Lewis each scored twice for the Tigers.
Micah Alexander walked in the first inning and Stephen Palstring reached on an error in the third inning for Wolfe City.
Class 1A Region II
Savoy 14, Roxton 0 (4)
SAVOY — The Savoy Cardinals opened the playoffs with a bi-district victory at home against Roxton on Wednesday night in a game moved up due to the threat of inclement weather.
Savoy will face either Northside or Saint Jo in the region quarterfinals next week.
Class 1A Region II
Ector 8, Covington 1
VALLEY VIEW — Destiny Whitburn threw a one-hitter with 12 strikeouts and two walks and also scored twice as Ector opened its Class 1A Region II quarterfinal series with a victory against Covington on Wednesday night.
Ector (6-11) will look to advance to the region semifinals in Game 2 at 10 a.m. on Saturday at Valley View. A third game, if necessary, would follow if Covington staves off elimination.
Kaylee Nelson drove in two runs and scored, Bailey Collins, Montana Johnson and Hannah Easley all singled, drove in a run and scored for the Lady Eagles, who scored six runs in the top of the first inning.
Dodd City 10, Avalon 4
FORNEY — Madelyn Underwood was 2-for-3 with a home run, two walks, three RBI and scored twice as Dodd City opened their playoffs with a region quarterfinal victory against Avalon at North Forney on Wednesday afternoon in a game moved up due to the threat of inclement weather.
Dodd City (4-10) will face either Ector or Covington in the region semifinals next week.
Camryn Hubbard was 3-for-4, walked and scored, Shaelee Fosher was 2-for-4 with a double, drove in a run and scored twice, Dulaney Chapman was 2-for-4 and drove in a run and Anna Flaherty was 2-for-5 with a double, drove in a run and scored for the Lady Hornets.
Class 2A Region II
Honey Grove 10, Riesel 2
WHITNEY — Bailey Shelton was 2-for-4 with three RBI and scored as Honey Grove opened its Class 2A Region II area round series with a victory against Riesel on Wednesday night.
Honey Grove (21-4) will look to advance to the region quarterfinals in Game 2 at 5 p.m. on Friday at Anna. A third game, if necessary, would follow if Riesel staves off elimination.
Kelsee Frost was 2-for-3 with two RBI and scored, Aynslie Andrew walked twice and scored twice, Bree Cason and Chan Pruitt scored twice and Makiyah Johnson and Isabella Morison drove in runs for the Lady Warriors, who scored six times in the fifth inning.
