Rickey Martinez drove in three runs for Grayson College but the Vikings weren’t able to keep pace with Paris Junior College in non-conference baseball action at Dub Hayes Field on Monday afternoon.
Andrew Miller was 2-for-5 and scored, Brandon Talley homered and scored twice, Jackson Glenn doubled, drove in two runs and scored and Ty Jones scored twice for Grayson (35-14), which had a 5-1 lead after the first inning and was up 7-5 after two before Paris took the lead for good with a five-run fourth inning.
After Paris scored in the top of the first, Grayson responded. Clayton Rasbeary scored on an error, Glenn followed with an RBI double and Martinez singled home a pair before Anthony Bernandez’s sac fly made it 5-1 to close out the inning.
Paris tied the game in the top of the second before Glenn’s sac fly and an RBI groundout by Martinez gave the Vikings a short-lived 7-5 advantage.
Grayson finishes off North Texas Junior College Athletic Conference play this week when it hosts Weatherford in a double-header at 1 p.m. on Wednesday before traveling to Weatherford for two games at 3 p.m. on Saturday.
