FORNEY — Randi Dobbins threw a one-hit shutout with 15 strikeouts and two walks as Celina opened its Class 4A Region II bi-district series against Ferris with a 7-0 victory at North Forney on Thursday.


Celina (19-5) will look to sweep the series tonight at 6 p.m. at North Forney. A third game, if necessary, would follow.


Alexys Ginegaw was 3-for-4 with a double, drove in a run and scored twice, Kalea Kellum was 2-for-4 with two doubles, drove in a run and scored, Colbie Balsamo was 2-for-3 with a double and drove in a run and Shayla Dell’Anno doubled and scored for the Lady Bobcats.


Melissa 4, Caddo Mills 3


WYLIE — The Melissa Lady Cardinals earned a Class 4A Region II bi-district victory against Caddo Mills at Wylie East on Thursday night.


Melissa (16-8) advanced to the area round with the win and will face either Decatur or Dallas Roosevelt next week.


Class 3A Region II


Ponder 6, Leonard 5 (11)


McKINNEY — After Leonard tied the game with two runs in the top of the seventh, Ponder earned a walk-off victory in Game 1 of a Class 3A Region II bi-district series at McKinney Boyd on Thursday.


Leonard (15-11) will look to extend the series as Games 2 and 3 are on Friday at Sunnyvale.


Claudia Ware was 2-for-4 with a home run, two walks and scored three times, Taylor Stricklin was 2-for-5 and scored, Charley Ashworth was 3-for-6 with a double, Dani Koch drove in two runs and Katlyn Brooks doubled, walked twice and scored for Leonard.


Class 2A Region II


Bells 11, Bland 1 (5)


ANNA — Cheyenne Floyd was 3-for-3 with two doubles, four RBI and two runs and allowed an unearned run on three hits with 10 strikeouts and a walk as defending state champion Bells opened the playoffs with a run-rule bi-district win over Bland on Thursday.


Bells (20-6) will face either Mart or Itasca in the area round next week.


Gabby Smith was 4-for-4 with a double and scored four times, Ashley Sloan was 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBI, Mia Moore was 3-for-3, drove in a run and scored and Bella Smith drove in two runs for the Lady Panthers.


Tom Bean 20, Celeste 0 (5)


ANNA — Baylee Stautzenberger threw a no-hitter with five strikeouts as Tom Bean opened the playoffs with a run-rule bi-district victory against Celeste on Thursday.


Tom Bean (18-4) will face Axtell in the area round next week.


Abby Farrer hit a grand slam, Ellie Bailey hit a two-run homer, Taylor Williams was 2-for-2 with three RBI and Chloe Farrer added two hits and scored three times for the Lady Tomcats.
