THE COLONY — Braden Carmichael’s one-out RBI single to center in the top of the eighth inning lifted Prosper past The Colony, 4-3, in District 14-5A action on Friday, April 6.


Cody Gallegos walked to open the extra inning and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by Tate Starks. Carmichael then singled to give the Eagles the lead and Conor Jackson finished off the win by working around a two-out dropped third strike.


Luke Johnson was 3-for-4 with two RBI, Kendall Foster walked twice and scored and Taylor Pendley singled and drove in a run for Prosper, which scored twice in the seventh to extend the game.


The Eagles were down to their final out when Braden Webb singled to right. Foster and Dawson Zey walked and then Johnson singled to tie the game.


Pendley had a one-out RBI single in the third after Carmichael walked.


The Colony tied the game in the bottom of the inning on a two-out error.


Prosper loaded the bases with one out in the fourth – Carmichael walked, Pendley reached on an error and Jackson was hit by a pitch – but Webb grounded into a double play.


A two-run triple in the fifth inning gave The Colony the lead.


In the top of the sixth, the Eagles loaded the bases with no outs. Foster walked and Zey and Johnson singled. But Prosper missed its chance to get anything out of the threat with a pair of strikeouts and a groundout.


Jackson got the win with 3.2 innings of scoreless relief. He allowed a hit and two walks while striking out six. Jacob Cosner started and gave up three runs, two runs, on five hits with three strikeouts and two walks in 4.1 innings.


The Eagles started the week with a 6-0 victory in the home-and-home matchup. Carmichael and Spencer Cochran combined on the four-hit shutout. Carmichael went 6.1 innings, giving up four hits and two walks with eight strikeouts.


Johnson was 2-for-3 with a double and three RBI, Zey was 2-for-3 with a double, drove in a run and scored twice, Starks singled and drove in a run, Gallegos walked twice and scored and Adam Sheriff doubled.


Prosper took a 2-0 lead in the first on an RBI single by Zey and a groundout by Johnson.


Johnson added a two-out RBI single in the third and he made it 4-0 in the fifth on a double to center. Later in the inning Preston scored on a passed ball and Starks drove in a run on a groundout.
