The Intercollegiate Tennis Association has released its most recent regional rankings and the Austin College women’s tennis team has been slotted No. 11 in the West Region.

In addition to the team attaining the ranking, singles players Melody Duong and Diana Carvajalino as well as the doubles team of Duong and Grace Ortiz have also earned West Region rankings.

Duong, a freshman from League City, has been ranked as the No. 17 singles player while Carvajalino, a sophomore from Hurst, comes in at No. 22. Duong and Ortiz, a senior from Manchaca, are ranked as the No. 12 doubles team.

Duong and Ortiz were named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Doubles Team of the Week and Duong was also named the SCAC Singles Player of the Week on March 20. She’s posted an 8-6 record primarily at line one while she and Ortiz are 11-3 splitting time between line one and line two.

Carvajalino, who has played primarily at line two singles and also earned SCAC recognition as one half of the Doubles Team of the Week twice earlier this year, has posted a record of 10-5 this spring.

The ‘Roos are 10-7 and recently defeated Cal Tech, which was No. 40 in the nation at the time of the match.
