Despite getting just two hits, the Denison Yellow Jackets took advantage of nine walks and an error to beat Wichita Falls, 5-1, in the District 5-5A opener at Denison on Tuesday.
Zander Ramey allowed a run on two hits, walked one and struck out nine, Christian Ruebeck tripled, walked and scored, Cayden Earnheart singled and walked twice, Austin Emery walked twice and drove in a run and Wilson Kirkbride and Cam Wheeler each walked and scored for Denison (9-6, 1-0), which plays at Wichita Falls on Friday night.
Sherman 3, Wichita Falls Rider 1
WICHITA FALLS — Nick Blankenship scattered four hits and two walks while striking out five and also walked twice and scored as Sherman opened 5-5A play with a victory against Wichita Falls Rider on Tuesday night.
Ryan Ortiz drove in two runs, Ben Cross singled and scored and Blake Steele singled and drove in a run for Sherman (3-10, 1-0), which hosts Rider at 7:30 p.m. on Friday night.
Rider tied the game at one in the fifth inning and then Sherman scored twice in the top of the sixth with the deciding runs.
Gunter 27, Callisburg 6 (5)
CALLISBURG — Matt Hunter was 3-for-5 with four RBI and three runs as Gunter run-ruled Callisburg in district action on Tuesday.
Bryson Rigsby was 2-for-3 with three walks, four RBI and scored, Teige Harris was 2-for-3 with two RBI and four runs, Kaiden Satre was 2-for-4 with three RBI and three runs, Powell Zuniga was 2-for-2 with a double, three walks and three runs and Ethan Everson was 2-for-3 with three RBI and two runs for Gunter.
Cameryn Crips singled and scored while Austin Cowger, Parker Silmon, Ian George, Brandon Hutson and Sutten Tidwell drove in runs for Callisburg (0-8, 0-2).
Pottsboro 9, Whitesboro 2
WHITESBORO — Coby Langford scattered two hits and three walks while striking out nine and doubled, drove in a run and scored twice as Pottsboro topped Whitesboro in district action on Tuesday.
Hayden Kent was 2-for-4 with two RBI and scored, Hunter Watson doubled, walked twice and scored twice, Cooper Lyons was 2-for-4 and scored, Jackson Lipscomb tripled, drove in a run and scored twice and Austin Cates drove in two runs for Pottsboro.
Andrew Reidy doubled and scored, Kade Brewer singled, walked and scored and Christian Goedecke drove in a run for Whitesboro (6-1-1, 0-1).
Ponder 12, S&S 2 (5)
PONDER — Ace Everett doubled and drove in a run during S&S’ district loss against Ponder on Tuesday.
Kailer Jones doubled and scored, Walt Trinklein singled and scored and Tanner Dolezalek singled and drove in a run for S&S (1-7, 0-2).
Van Alstyne 7, Whitewright 1
WHITEWRIGHT — Samuel Tormos, Jordan Velekei and Chandler David combined on a one-hitter as Van Alstyne beat Whitewright in district action on Tuesday night.
David also went 2-for-3 with a double and scored, Tormos tripled, walked twice and scored, Zane Madison drove in two runs and Chase Wilson walked twice, drove in a run and scored for Van Alstyne (6-3, 2-0).
Seth Jackson singled while Neal Taylor and Dylan Cordell walked for Whitewright.
Lone Oak 3, Howe 2
LONE OAK — Cade Courtney was 2-for 2 with two walks, drove in a run and scored during Howe’s district loss against Lone Oak on Tuesday.
Dyson Dillard was 2-for-3 and Spencer Akins singled and scored for Howe (5-2, 1-1).
After Howe scored in the top of the seventh to take a 2-1 lead, Lone Oak earned the walkoff victory.
Collinsville 15, Saint Jo 4 (5)
SAINT JO — Josh King was 2-for-4 with a double, three RBI and scored twice as Collinsville beat Saint Jo in district action on Tuesday.
Collin Westbrook and Cayden Bailey each went 2-for-3 with two RBI and two runs, Trey Shelby was 2-for-4 with a triple and three RBI, Dylan Kays was 2-for-3 with a double, drove in a run and scored twice and Samuel Aldaco was 2-for-4 with two RBI and scored for Collinsville (3-3, 2-1).

BLUE RIDGE — Matthew Conner was 3-for-5 with two doubles, drove in a run and scored twice as Bells beat Blue Ridge in district action on Tuesday.
Hunter Hawthorne was 3-for-5 with a double, three RBI and scored, Kason Huschke was 2-for-4 with two RBI and scored, Chance Morse was 2-for-5 with a double and three RBI, Stephen Hinds singled, drove in two and scored twice and Lane Brown scored three times for Bells (8-3, 2-0).
Nathan Campbell was 2-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI, Ross Feagins was 2-for-3 with a double and scored twice, Colin Southard drove in two runs and Evan Beasley and Brayden Skotnicki doubled for Blue Ridge.
