WICHITA FALLS — Dontre Flowers scored 18 points as Denison finished its season with a 79-76 victory against Wichita Falls in 5-5A action on Friday since it has the district bye on Tuesday.

Tarrence Gaines added 17 points, Nate Uber hit five three-pointers for 15 points, Mykel Anderson added 10 points and Devonte Fulce finished with eight points for Denison (11-20, 4-8), which will finish no worse than a tie for fifth place and earned its most victories since the 2010-11 season.

Wichita Falls Rider 68, Sherman 64

Jeremy Norvell had 24 points, nine rebounds, eight assists and three steals but fourth-place Sherman's upset bid of district co-leader Wichita Falls Rider fell short in 5-5A action on Friday night.

Kemonte Dowdy scored 15 points, Jaylyn Cleamons added 10 points, Blaise Bentsen totaled eight points, five rebounds and three blocks and Rayvon Hester finished with seven points for Sherman (17-14, 6-5), which is now locked into fourth place and will open the playoffs against the District 6-5A champion.

The Bearcats close out the regular season at third-place Denton on Tuesday night.

District 9-4A

Sanger 54, Gainesville 51

SANGER — Josh Kemp scored 14 points during Gainesville's district loss against Sanger on Friday night.

Tyler Goldsworthy added 11 points and Gage Terrell chipped in nine points for Gainesville, which fell a game behind Sanger for the final playoff spot.

District 11-4A

Celina 85, Aubrey 50

CELINA — Hayden Hollin scored 30 points as Celina clinched the district championship with a victory over Aubrey on Friday night.

Kobe Ollison added 19 points while Noah Ross and Karson Stastny each chipped in 12 points for Celina.

Melissa 67, Bonham 61, OT

BONHAM — Brendon Lewis scored 22 points as Melissa beat Bonham in overtime to clinch a playoff spot in district action on Friday night.

Matt Holloway scored eight of his 12 points in the OT period for Melissa, which moved into second place.

Josh Ukpe scored 21 points, Wyatt Dolberry added 15 points and Tyler Rodriguez finished with 14 points for Bonham (19-11, 3-6), which was eliminated from playoff contention.

District 9-3A

Gunter 61, S&S 39

SADLER — Tyler Scott scored 18 points as Gunter defeated S&S in district action on Friday night.

Logan Nelson added 17 points and Clay Lemons finished with 11 points for Gunter (7-19, 4-7).

Jayce Howard scored 19 points and Cole Sloan chipped in 10 points for S&S.

Ponder 69, Pottsboro 38

PONDER — Jaxon Recer scored 11 points during second-place Pottsboro's district loss against first-place Ponder on Friday night.

Blake Dyer and Hunter Hines added six points apiece and Kai Barr finished with four points for Pottsboro (24-6, 9-2), which is locked into the second seed for the playoffs.

Ponder (29-5, 11-0) clinched the district championship with the victory.

District 12-2A

Sam Rayburn 73, Tom Bean 54

IVANHOE — Bryce Grier had 18 points, five assists and five steals during third-place Tom Bean's district loss against first-place Sam Rayburn on Friday night.

Ben Lind added 17 points and 12 rebounds, Blakeston Jones scored seven points and Michael Cooper grabbed 14 rebounds for Tom Bean (17-15, 4-5), which is tied with Bells in third place.

District 13-2A

Wolfe City 67, Blue Ridge 34

WOLFE CITY — Jed Cagle had 16 points as Wolfe City beat Blue Ridge to clinch a playoff spot in district action on Friday night.

Dylan Wilson and Mo Russell each finished with 12 points for the Wolves, who remained tied with Honey Grove in third place.

District 22-A

Ector 56, Irving Universal 47

ECTOR — Deviaire Patterson scored 17 points as Ector clinched the district title with a victory against second-place Irving Universal on Friday night.

Austin Earl added 16 points and Garen Norwood chipped in six points for Ector (27-6, 7-0), which outscored Irving Universal by 10 points in the fourth quarter.

Ector closes out the regular season at Savoy on Tuesday night.

District 11-4A tie-breaker

Anna 53, Celina 42

PRINCETON — The Anna Lady Coyotes defeated the Celina Lady Bobcats to earn a playoff spot in the district tie-breaker for the fourth and final postseason berth on Friday night.

Anna will face District 12-4A champion Quinlan Ford in a Class 4A Region II bi-district match-up at 7 p.m. on Tuesday at Wylie East.

Melissa 49, Howe 31

MELISSA — Ashley Gideon had 15 points and seven rebounds as Melissa beat Howe in a playoff warm-up game on Friday night.

Taylor Carney added 12 points, Charley Lane chipped in 11 points and three steals, Taylor Thomas totaled seven points, five rebounds and four assists and Natalie Conlin grabbed eight rebounds for Melissa (30-3), which opens the playoffs with a Class 4A Region II bi-district contest against Terrell at 7 p.m. on Monday at Wylie East.

Peyton Streetman scored 13 points to lead Howe (21-10), which takes on Whitesboro in a Class 3A Region II bi-district match-up at 6:30 p.m. on Monday at Anna.

Dodd City 82, McKinney Christian 34

McKINNEY — Paige Granstaff scored 30 points as Dodd City beat McKinney Christian in a playoff warmup on Saturday.

Abby Weeks added 25 points, Delaney Pilliod chipped in eight points and Dani Baccus and Journie Hilliard finished with six points apiece for Dodd City (32-1), which has a first-round bye and will face the Miller Grove-Bloomburg winner in a Class 1A Region III area round match-up later this week.
