WICHITA FALLS — The Sherman Bearcats opened district play with a 0-0 tie against Wichita Falls Rider on Tuesday night.


“We had pretty good chances but we could not connect,” Sherman head coach Chico Aleman said. “We had three or four point-blank shots in a crowd but could not get in it.”


Miguel Ramirez played the first half in goal and Gerald Clark took care of the second half in net for Sherman (2-3-4, 0-0-1), which hosts Denton at 7:15 p.m. on Friday.


Wichita Falls 4, Denison 1


WICHITA FALLS — Jared Aguilar scored fifth goal of the season but Denison opened 5-5A play with a loss against Wichita Falls on Tuesday night.


Aguilar scored on a penalty kick in the 74th minute after Luke Altnether drew the foul in the box. Osvaldo Delarosa made 11 saves for Denison (3-5-1, 0-1), which has the district bye on Friday before playing at Wichita Falls Rider on Tuesday.

The Lady Yellow Jackets opened district play with a shutout loss against Wichita Falls at Munson Stadium on Tuesday night.


Denison (7-7, 0-1) has the district bye on Friday before hosting Wichita Falls Rider on Tuesday.
