LUBBOCK — Mykel Anderson scored 17 points as Denison defeated Sweetwater, 62-55, to close out the Caprock Tournament on Saturday.

Nate Uber added 16 points, Devonte Fulce chipped in nine points and Tarrence Gaines finished with seven points for Denison (7-13).

In tournament action on Friday, Denison beat New Way Christian Academy, 96-70, and lost, 89-58, against Lubbock Coronado.

In the win against New Way, Uber made eight three-pointers and finished with 29 points, Gaines scored 17 points, Fulce chipped in 15 points, Anderson totaled 14 points and Braydon Roberts had 12 points.

Allen Tournament

Highland Park 70, Sherman 63

ALLEN — Kemonte Dowdy had 24 points during Sherman’s loss against Highland Park to close out the Allen Tournament on Saturday.

Jeremy Norvell added 13 points and nine assists and Blaise Bentsen chipped in 12 points, seven rebounds and three blocks for Sherman (12-9).

In tournament action on Friday, Sherman finished with a 77-61 victory over Richardson Berkner after a 65-55 loss against Rockwall.

In the win against Berkner, Dowdy scored 24 points, Bentsen totaled 16 points and 16 rebounds, Rayvon Hester added 14 points and three assists, Norvell chipped in 13 points and eight assists and Jaylyn Cleamons finished with 10 points.

In the loss against Rockwall, Norvell had 25 points, five rebounds and three assists, Cleamons scored 12 points and Hester chipped in 10 points and three assists.

Fifth-place game

Van Alstyne 76, Melissa 67

ALLEN — Samuel Tormos scored 27 points as Van Alstyne defeated Melissa for fifth-place in the Small School Bracket at the Allen Tournament on Saturday.

Tyler Sperry added 13 points, Noah Boling chipped in 12 points and Jackson Rogers had 11 points for Van Alstyne.

Matt Holloway scored 18 points, Junior Castleberry chipped in 17 points and Josh Wood totaled nine points for Melissa.

In tournament action on Friday, Van Alstyne suffered a 70-57 loss against Princeton. Boling scored 24 points, Tormos added 17 points and Sperry chipped in eight points.

Wills Point 67, Gunter 56

ALLEN — Zander Turner scored 20 points during Gunter’s loss against Wills Point to close out the Allen Tournament on Saturday.

Tyler Scott added 10 points and Dylan Jantz chipped in eight points for the Tigers, who return to district play by hosting Whitesboro on Tuesday.

In tournament action on Friday, Gunter suffered a 64-62 loss against Mabank. Scott scored 16 points, Logan Nelson added 14 points, Kyle Watson finished with 11 points and Turner had 10 points for the Tigers (4-11).

Third-place game

Pottsboro 62, Rains 36

LEONARD — Ross Hendrix scored 13 points as Pottsboro earned third place at the Leonard Tournament with a victory against Rains on Friday.

Daniel Arnold added 12 points, Kai Barr chipped in 11 points and Ethyn Snider finished with 10 points for Pottsboro (16-3), which plays at Celina on Thursday night. Barr and Arnold were named to the all-tournament team.

Fifth-place game

Bonham 70, Whitewright 53

LEONARD — Wyatt Dolberry scored 15 points and Bonham defeated Whitewright in the fifth-place game of the Leonard Tournament on Friday.

Izaiah Epps added 14 points for Bonham.

The Warriors started the day with a 58-48 win against Leonard. Dolberry scored 22 points, Josh Ukpe added 18 points and Epps chipped in nine points.

Issac Nolen scored 14 points, Byron Bolin added 10 points, Seth Lewis chipped in nine points and Chance Sanderson finished with eight points for Leonard.

Whitewright started the day with a 60-48 victory against Anna. Jordan Meixelsperger scored 21 points, Dylan Pitt added 16 points, Seth Jackson finished with nine points and Kylan Watson chipped in seven points.

Noah Palshaw had 12 points, Emmonte Davis chipped in 10 points and Gavin Reno and Josh O’Bier totaled seven points apiece for Anna.

Consolation Championship

Sam Rayburn 49, Tom Bean 42

LEONARD — Vaden Brownfield scored 15 points as Sam Rayburn topped Tom Bean in the consolation championship game of the Leonard Tournament on Friday.

Dax Stewart added 13 points and Coleman McCraw chipped in 11 points for Sam Rayburn.

Ben Lind had 15 points and 14 rebounds, Bryce Grier added 11 points, four rebounds, three assists and three steals and Blakeston Jones finished with seven points, five rebounds and three assists for Tom Bean (11-9).

Honey Grove 47, S&S 40

LEONARD — Devin Fulbright scored 14 points as Honey Grove beat S&S in the Leonard Tournament on Friday.

Zeke Woods added 13 points and Ryan Lipstraw chipped in nine points for Honey Grove.

Austin Baze scored 13 points and Jayce Howard added seven points for S&S.

Bells 67, Cooper 66

LEONARD — Colby Meek scored 20 points as Bells edged Cooper in the Leonard Tournament on Friday.

Wrangler Priest and Hunter Hawthorne each finished with nine points while Cire Luster chipped in eight points.

Ector Tournament


Ector 57, Blue Ridge 43

ECTOR — Deviaire Patters scored 24 points and was named MVP as Ector beat Blue Ridge to win its tournament on Saturday night.

Austin Earl added 13 points and Noel Cannaday chipped in 11 points and were named all-tournament selections for Ector (19-4).

Joel Linn scored nine points and was named all-tournament along with Caleb Jenkins for Blue Ridge

In tournament action on Friday, Ector defeated Paris Chisum, 65-60, with Patterson scoring 30 points and Earl adding 10 points.
