ALLEN — Kemonte Dowdy had 18 points and four assists during Sherman’s 69-63 loss against Fort Bend Travis to open the Allen Tournament on Wednesday.
Jaylyn Cleamons added 15 points and four rebounds, Jeremy Norvell finished with 11 points and four assists and Rayvon Hester totaled 11 points and three assists for Sherman, which faces Rockwall today at 11:30 a.m. and then plays Richardson Berkner at 5:15 p.m. before closing pool play against Highland Park at 10 a.m. on Saturday.
Crandall 65, Van Alstyne 61
ALLEN — Jackson Rogers scored 20 points during Van Alstyne’s loss against Crandall at the Allen Tournament on Thursday.
Noah Boling added 19 points while Tyler Sperry and Samuel Tormos totaled 11 points apiece for the Panthers.
Van Alstyne started the day with a 75-63 victory against Whitesboro. Tormos had 27 points, Boling added 19 points and Sperry and Rogers each scored 10 points for the Panthers.
Cade Acker scored 22 points to lead Whitesboro.
Grandview 70, Gunter 48
ALLEN — Tyler Scott scored 13 points during Gunter’s loss against Grandview in the Allen Tournament on Thursday.
Logan Nelson added 11 points, Clay Lemons chipped in 10 points and Zander Turner totaled eight points for the Tigers.
Gunter started the day with a 75-50 loss against Allen’s junior varsity. Nelson scored 13 points, Turner added 10 points and Scott and Lemons each finished with nine points.
Tom Bean 57, S&S 40
LEONARD — Bryce Grier scored 17 points as Tom Bean topped S&S at the Leonard Tournament on Thursday.
Blakeston Jones added 12 points and Ben Lind chipped in 11 points for Tom Bean (10-8).
Cole Sloan scored 14 points and Austen Baze added 10 points for S&S.
Bells 63, Winnsboro 53
LEONARD — Hunter Hawthorne scored 20 points as Bells defeated Winnsboro at the Leonard Tournament on Thursday.
Bryan Ponder added 11 points, Colby Meek had nine points and Cire Luster, Tyler Hawthorne and Wrangler Priest all finished with six points for Bells.
Celeste 83, Whitewright 51
LEONARD — Dylan Pitt scored 19 points during Whitewright’s loss against Celeste in the Leonard Tournament on Thursday.
Seth Jackson added 11 points while Blake Bottoms and Will Stephens each finished with six points for Whitewright.
Caddo Mills 59, Pottsboro 55
LEONARD — Ross Hendrix scored 16 points during Pottsboro’s loss against Caddo Mills during the semifinals of the Leonard Tournament on Thursday.
Daniel Arnold finished with 12 points, Ethyn Snider added 11 points and Kai Barr had 10 points for Pottsboro (15-3), which will play in the third-place game today at 5:40 p.m.
Caddo Mills 62, Bonham 35
LEONARD — Wyatt Dolberry scored nine points during Bonham’s loss against Caddo Mills at the Leonard Tournament on Thursday.
Tyler Rodriguez and Izaiah Epps also had nine points apiece for the Warriors.
Ector 69, Roxton 41
ECTOR — Austin Earl scored 17 points as Ector closed out the first day of its tournament with a victory against Roxton on Thursday.
Noel Cannaday added 15 points, Deviaire Patterson chipped in 12 points and Nathan Essary finished with 11 points for Ector (16-4).
The Eagles started the day with a 70-48 victory against Trenton. Patterson scored 25 points, Kyrin Beach had 13 points and Earl and Cannaday finished with nine points apiece.
