Sherman’s Rayvon Hester scored 17 points, but Amarillo Palo Duro avenged an earlier loss to the Bearcats with a 64-45 victory Wednesday at Bearcat Gym.

Kemonte Dowdy added 10 points and three assists for Sherman. Dowdy had a 3-point buzzer-beater to lift Sherman to a 71-69 victory over the Dons in the opening round of the Gene Messer Shootout at Woolforth on Nov. 29, but Palo Duro built a 19-point lead in the rematch with a 36-17 edge over the second and third quarters.

Jaylyn Cleamons had seven points and four rebounds for the Bearcats with Blaise Bentsen scoring five points and grabbing a game-high 13 rebounds.

Sherman opens play at Allen’s In-N-Out Burger Tournament at 2:30 p.m. today against Fort Bend Travis.

Leonard 42, S&S 30

LEONARD — Jackson Anderson and Byron Bolin each scored 12 points as Leonard opened its tournament with a victory against S&S on Wednesday.

Chance Sanderson added six points for the Tigers.

Jayce Howard scored 20 points and Cole Sloan chipped in six points for S&S.

In its second game of the day, Leonard lost 48-37 to Emory Rains, which held a 20-point lead entering the fourth quarter. Isaac Nolen scored 11 points to lead the Tigers with Seth Lewis scoring nine.

Whitewright 62, Winnsboro 52

LEONARD — Dylan Pitt scored 20 points as Whitewright opened the Leonard Tournament with a victory against Winnsboro on Wednesday.

Jordan Meixelsperger added 12 points, Seth Jackson finished with nine points and Dylan Cordell chipped in eight points for Whitewright.

Rains 61, Tom Bean 55

LEONARD — Ben Lind had 21 points and 15 rebounds during Tom Bean’s loss against Emory Rains at the Leonard Tournament on Wednesday.

Bryce Grier added 17 points, five rebounds and five assists, Perry Williams chipped in six points and three rebounds and Dillon Curd grabbed six rebounds for Tom Bean (9-8).

Celeste 81, Bells 43

LEONARD — Hunter Hawthorne scored 14 points during Bells’ loss against Celeste at the Leonard Tournament on Wednesday.

Colby Meek added 10 points and Wrangler Priest finished with six points for the Panthers.

Caddo Mills 52, Sam Rayburn 40

LEONARD — Vaden Brownfield scored 17 points to lead Sam Rayburn in a lost to Caddo Mills at the Leonard Tournament.

Coleman McCraw added 11 for the Rebels.

Pottsboro 77, Farmersville 29

LEONARD — Ethyn Snider scored 18 points to lead Pottsboro in its victory over Farmersville at the Leonard Tournament.

Daniel Arnold added 16 points for the Cardinals and Kai Barr had 12 points.

Anna 67, Honey Grove 27

LEONARD — Micah Cotton, Noah Palshaw and Jackson Vandagriff each had eight points as Anna defeated Honey Grove at the Leonard Tournament.

Elijah Patterson led the Warriors with 11 points.
