LITTLE ELM — Kemonte Dowdy had 22 points and three assists as Sherman started District 5-5A action with a 66-51 victory against Denton Braswell on Tuesday night.


Jaylyn Cleamons added 13 points and nine rebounds, Jeremy Norvell chipped in 11 points and five assists, Blaise Bentsen totaled nine points and seven rebounds and Rayvon Hester finished with seven points and four assists for Sherman (11-5, 1-0).


Sherman took a 20-7 lead in the first quarter and went up 15 early in the second quarter, but Braswell cut the margin to 32-24 at halftime as Brandon Barlow scored nine of his team-high 17 points. The Bengals scored the first five points of the third quarter to get within three before the Bearcats closed the period with a 17-2 run.


M.J. Leslie added 12 points for Braswell and Kiran Anderson scored 11.


Wichita Falls Rider 89, Denison 81


WICHITA FALLS — Mykel Anderson scored 25 points for Denison but Wichita Falls Rider defeated the Yellow Jackets in the 5-5A opener on Tuesday afternoon.


Tarrence Gaines added 16 points, Dontre Flowers finished with 15 points, Pierce Barker chipped in nine points and Braydon Roberts totaled eight points for Denison (5-11, 0-1), which will compete in the Caprock Tournament starting on Dec. 28.

Texoma Christian 67, Dallas Cambridge 48


Marlen Williams scored a season-high 33 points as Texoma Christian pulled away from Dallas Cambridge in district action on Tuesday night.


The Eagles (12-2, 2-0) led by four points at halftime, then outscored the Lions 35-20 in the second half.


Kyle McCarthy added 12 points and Weston Chaddick scored 10 for TCS, which will compete in the NCTC Tournament Dec. 28-30.

Van Alstyne 74, Anna 44


ANNA — Noah Boling scored 23 points as Van Alstyne defeated Anna in non-district action on Tuesday.


Samuel Tormos added 14 points, Tyler Sperry chipped in 11 points and Drelin Davis finished with eight points for Van Alstyne.


Gavin Reno scored 12 points and Hunter Lebo added nine points for Anna.


Honey Grove 77, Bells 71


HONEY GROVE — Devin Fulbright scored 24 points as Honey Grove defeated Bells in non-district action on Tuesday.


Elijah Patterson added 23 points and Zeke Woods finished with 14 points for Honey Grove.


Hunter Hawthorne scored 22 points while Bryan Ponder and Cire Luster each added 13 points apiece for Bells.


Wolfe City 53, Farmersville 37


WOLFE CITY — Dayton Smith had 13 points and 10 rebounds as Wolfe City defeated Farmersville in non-district action on Tuesday night.


Mo Russell added 11 points and eight rebounds for the Wolves.


Bonham 85, Gainesville 41


BONHAM — Josh Upke had 29 points as Bonham defeated Gainesville in non-district action on Tuesday


Wyatt Dolberry added 15 points, Izaiah Epps chipped in 13 points and Noah Shellman finished with 10 points for the Warriors.


Josh Kemp scored 18 points for Gainesville.
