WICHITA FALLS — Zya Nugent had 24 points, eight rebounds and eight steals as Denison defeated Wichita Falls Rider, 65-48, in District 5-5A action on Friday night.

Zachareia Sommers added 12 points, four steals and three rebounds, Ikia Lacy chipped in seven points and 10 rebounds and Taryn Gaines finished with eight points and five rebounds for the Lady Jackets (17-3, 2-0), who are off until competing in the Ardmore Holiday Tournament on Dec. 28.

Denton Braswell 56, Sherman 44

LITTLE ELM — Libby Ticknor scored 16 points as Sherman suffered its second 5-5A loss in a row at Braswell on Friday.

Sherman (5-13, 1-2) overcame a five-point deficit at the end of the first quarter to tie the game at 24 at halftime, and trailed by a point entering the fourth quarter before Braswell (7-6, 1-1) put the game away with a 22-11 advantage over the final eight minutes.

Jaylen Edmonson added 10 points for Sherman and Kursten Alexander scored nine.

Achlie Brown led Braswell with 24 points, while Tiarah Starks scored nine and Kamryn Gibson had eight.

District 9-3A

Whitesboro 55, Pilot Point 44

PILOT POINT — Phoenix West and Destiny Mack each had double-doubles as Whitesboro opened District 9-3A play with a victory over Pilot Point on Friday.

West had 19 points and 10 rebounds with Mack recording 11 points and 11 rebounds. Piper Dunn scored 12 points and Karlee Schuessler added six points, seven rebounds, three assists, three blocks and three steals for Whitesboro (13-5, 1-0).

Pilot Point was led by Brooke Lane with 12 points. Christine Billmeier added 10 points and Kyndall Rohan scored eight points.

District 10-3A

Whitewright 51, Van Alstyne 31

WHITEWRIGHT — Jy Johnson had 16 points, 12 rebounds and three steals as Whitewright defeated Van Alstyne in district action on Friday night.

Kayela Willis added 15 points, four rebounds and three steals and Zoe Magnuson totaled nine points, eight rebounds and four steals for Whitewright (9-10, 2-0).

Emma Donald scored 15 points to lead Van Alstyne (9-8, 1-1).

Howe 61, Lone Oak 36

LONE OAK — Payton Griffin had 15 points and four rebounds as Howe defeated Lone Oak in district action on Friday night.

Peyton Streetman added 14 points and seven rebounds, Ally Harvey finished with 13 points, eight rebounds and five steals and Marissa Agee chipped in nine points and four rebounds for Howe (9-7, 2-0).

Leonard 78, Commerce 33

COMMERCE — Jessi Bennett had 23 points, five assists and three steals as Leonard beat Commerce in district action on Friday night.

Bridget Watson added 21 points, six assists and five steals and Alyssa Davis finished with 13 points and 10 rebounds for Leonard (13-2, 2-0).


Melissa 48, Decatur 39

MELISSA — Taylor Carney had 15 points and four rebounds and Sally Clemmons added 11 points as Melissa rallied past Decatur in non-district action on Friday night.

Trailing 25-17 at halftime, Melissa outscored Decatur 20-4 in the third quarter to take control.

Taylor Thomas added eight points, six assists and four rebounds for Melissa (18-3).

S&S 52, Hampton Prep 28

DUNCANVILLE — Kaylee Baker scored 15 points and Payton White had 12 points as S&S rolled past Hampton Prep in non-district action on Friday.

The Lady Rams (9-8) led 28-14 at halftime and maintained control throughout the second half.

Colleen Billmeier added eight points for S&S, which returns to 9-3A action at Ponder at 12:30 p.m. on Monday.

Dodd City 87, Bells 40

BELLS — Paige Granstaff scored 35 points and as Dodd City remained undefeated by beating Bells.

Abby Weeks had 23 points and Journie Hilliard added 12 points for Dodd City (16-0), which led by 15 after one quarter and by 31 at halftime.

Honey Grove 56, Farmersville 36

FARMERSVILLE — Diavian Shaw scored 28 points to lead Honey Grove past Farmersville in non-district action on Friday night.

The Lady Warriors jumped out to a 20-2 lead in the first quarter and led by 22 at halftime.

Isabella Morrison added 13 points and Makiyah Johnson chipped in six points for Honey Grove (12-9).

Collinsville 61, Wolfe City 46

WOLFE CITY — Lauren Turner scored 17 points for Wolfe City in its non-district loss to Collinsville.

Wolfe City (6-8) trailed by eight in the fourth quarter before Collinsville hit 7-of-8 free throws down the stretch to clinch the victory. Wolfe City was just 8-of-23 at the line for the game.

Erin Moore added 11 points and Dunia Russell chipped in seven points for Wolfe City, which hosts Farmersville on Tuesday.

Tom Bean 58, Gold-Burg 24

BOWIE — Alyssa Edwards scored 19 points as Tom Bean overwhelmed Gold-Burg in non-district action on Friday.

Jillian Beck and Cheyanne Worley each had 10 points for Tom Bean (7-9) with Chloe Farrer and Kaitlyn Lind both adding six points.

Tom Bean took control early, outscoring Gold-Burg 16-4 in the first quarter, and led 29-5 at halftime.

Dallas Shelton 61, TCS 54 (OT)

DALLAS — Megan Langenbahn scored 16 points during Texoma Christian’s non-district loss in overtime against Dallas Shelton.

Tinsley Love added nine points and Bree Yale chipped in eight points for Texoma Christian (3-10).
