WICHITA FALLS — Taylor Thomas had 16 points, six rebounds and five steals as Melissa finished fourth in the Large School Division of the Fantasy of Lights Tournament after a 51-42 loss against Wichita Falls Rider in the third-place game on Saturday.


Sally Clemmons added 15 points, eight rebounds and four assists for Melissa (6-1).


Earlier in the semifinals, Martin’s Mill defeated the Lady Cardinals, 71-41, for a spot in the championship game. Thomas had 12 points, five rebounds and three assists, Clemmons scored 12 points and Ashley Gideon totaled eight points and six rebounds.


In tournament action on Friday, Melissa started with a 60-40 victory against Rider. Clemmons had 17 points, eight rebounds, five assists and three steals, Gideon added 15 points and four rebounds, Thomas totaled 10 points, five assists and four rebounds and Anna Fortenberry grabbed 10 rebounds.


Later on Friday the Lady Cardinals defeated Bowie, 57-50, behind 23 points, four rebounds and three steals by Clemmons.


Gideon totaled 12 points and seven rebounds and Thomas finished with 10 points, four rebounds and three steals.
