ATHENS — Logan Point had 26 carries for 120 yards and three touchdowns as Celina held off Jasper, 35-27, in a Class 4A Division II Region II area round game on Friday afternoon.
Celina (9-3) will face Texarkana Pleasant Grove in the region semifinals at Sulphur Springs on Friday.
Point had touchdown runs of 38 and one yard in the first quarter as the Bobcats opened a 14-0 lead.
He scored again in the middle of the second quarter, sandwiched between two touchdowns by Jasper (8-3), one with 10 seconds before the break to cut Celina’s lead to 21-13.
Noah Ross had a pair of second-half TD passes to keep the Bobcats in front. He found Major Martin from 27-yards out to open the third quarter.
When Jasper trimmed the deficit again, Ross connected with Ismael Ortiz for a six-yard touchdown with 8:40 left in the game.
Ross was 9-of-12 passing for 75 yards and ran 13 times for 56 yards while Ortiz chipped in 55 yards on 10 carries.
Leontay Sells threw a pair of touchdown passes and Luke Collins finished with seven carries for 116 yards and two scores, including a 60-yard touchdown that made it a one-possession game with 8:29 remaining for Jasper.

San Augustine 39, Wolfe City 7
PALESTINE — The Wolfe City Wolves were eliminated from the playoffs by San Augustine in an area round game on Friday afternoon.
San Augustine (12-0) will face either Price Carlisle or Kerens in the region semifinals this week.
Jed Cagle scored on a one-yard run in the final minute for Wolfe City (9-3), which won a playoff game for the first time since 2014 and won at least nine games in a season for the first time since 2006.
