BELLS — Diavian Shaw scored 22 points as Honey Grove closed the first day of the Bells Tournament with a 60-44 victory against Denton Braswell.
Isabella Morrison added 16 points and Alexandra Morrison finished with nine points for Honey Grove, which will face Whitesboro at 10:15 a.m. today in the semifinals of the Silver Bracket.
The Lady Warriors started the day with a 35-28 loss against Pottsboro. Shaw scored 12 points and Isabella Morrison added four points for Honey Grove.
S&S earns split
BELLS — The S&S Lady Rams came away with a split on the first day of the Bells Tournament, losing against Bells, 56-29, and beating Commerce, 44-34.
In the loss against Bells, Taylor Jackson had 16 points and Halie Hicks added six points.
Jackson finished with 15 points, six rebounds and four assists against Commerce while Payton White had 12 points and 10 rebounds and Kaylee Baker chipped in seven points, four assists and three steals for S&S (3-2), which will take on Decatur at 2 p.m. on Friday in the Silver Bracket semifinals.
Other scores from the first day were: Leonard beating Whitesboro, 69-49, and Cooper, 59-26, Whitesboro beating Cooper, 61-33, Bells beating Commerce, 64-33, and Howe topping Decatur, 34-33, and Aubrey 47-35.
Blue Ridge Tournament
Ector 46, Blue Ridge JV 13
BLUE RIDGE — Riley Evans scored 12 points as Ector defeated Blue Ridge’s junior varsity to open the Blue Ridge Tournament on Thursday.
Destiny Whitburn added 11 points while Carly Jones and Stormy Shockley each chipped in six points for Ector, which continues tourney play against Blue Ridge today at 4:30 p.m.
Tom Bean 33, North Hopkins 29
MERIT — Taylor Whitehurst scored eight points as Tom Bean opened the Bland Tournament with a victory against North Hopkins on Thursday.
Gabby Narro and Chloe Farrer each finished with seven points for Tom Bean.
