DURANT, Okla. — Southeastern Oklahoma State men’s basketball will head into the 2017-18 season picked to finish 10th by the league’s coaches in the Great American Conference preseason poll.
The Savage Storm received 44 points in the poll, just two points behind Southwestern Oklahoma State in ninth place.
Arkansas Monticello was picked to win the league with 121 points and 11 first-place votes while Arkansas Tech was next with 98 points and one first-place vote, one point ahead of East Central in third.
Southern Nazarene checked in fourth, followed by Harding, Henderson State, Southern Arkansas and Ouachita Baptist.
The Storm went 12-16 and 8-14 in league play and will be looking to replace its top two scorers, including first-team all-conference selection Anton Cook, who averaged 19.6 points.
Kevin Buckingham is the top returner with 10.8 points and 5.5 rebounds while Jett Jobe averaged 8.4 points and 5.3 assists.
The Savage Storm open the season on Nov. 10-11 at the GAC/MIAA Crossover in Alva, Okla.
