DANVILLE, Ky. — Centre College’s Tanner Young passed for four touchdowns Saturday and the Colonels defense clamped down on Austin College to defeat the Kangaroos 38-3 at Farris Stadium.
Austin College (2-4) managed just 129 total yards and eight first downs in losing its fourth game in a row.
Kangaroos quarterback Colt Collins was 7 of 28 passing for 68 yards with one interception. He was also AC’s leading rusher with 48 yards on nine carries.
Adonis Martin caught two passes for 24 yards and Brennan Ellis had two catches for 18 yards.
Austin College’s lone scoring drive went just 17 yards after Hayden Schilling recovered a fumble at the Centre 21 on the first play of the third quarter. The ’Roos moved to the 4 before Cesar Ruiz kicked a 21-yard field goal.
Young was 19 of 27 passing for 309 yards. Cody Estep had four receptions for 89 yards and a score.
Centre (4-1) took a 17-0 halftime lead as Ben Logsdon kicked a 20-yard field goal and Young hit TD passes of 1 yard to Davis Kannapell and 60 yards to Jaylon Hibbs.
After Ruiz’s field goal, Centres’ Trevor Carnell scored on a 1-yard run and a 16-yard reception from Young.
Estep closed out the scoring with a 29-yard TD catch with 7:41 remaining in the game.
Carnell rushed for a game-high 67 yards on 26 carries as the Colonels finished with 386 total yards.
