SADLER — The Gunter Tigers came out firing on all cylinders to get a 53-0 win over the S&S Rams in District 6-3A (II) action on Friday.


It was the second straight shutout for the defending state champs, who extended their school record winning streak to 22 games.


“We’re kind of riding some momentum right here. Like I said, we’re 6-0 and 2-0 in district, so just have to continue to feed off of that,” Gunter head coach Jake Fieszel said. “We’ve got to continue to keep the kids hungry and do everything we can to keep improving everyday.”


The Tigers (6-0, 2-0) came out and held S&S (3-3, 0-2) to 32 yards, including 18 yards on 33 carries.


On offense, Peyton Lowe started the scoring on a 20-yard run with 5:46 left in the first quarter, and Daylan Bower’s ran in the conversion.


With 32 seconds left in the quarter, Evan Gonzalez kicked a 28-yard field goal for an 11-0 advantage.


Gunter continued to pad its lead in the second quarter with touchdown runs by Bower and Lowe.


Bower struck first with a short 1-yard run in the middle of the frame while Lowe added a 4-yarder with 4:11 left in the quarter and Gunter had a 25-0 lead at half-time.


The Tigers scored three more times in the third quarter. Dylan Jantz had an 18-yard rushing touchdown less than a minute into the quarter. Lowe scored once more on a 13-yard run and Bower ran 50 yards for the longest score of the night with 4:21 left in the quarter.


Gunter closed out the scoring on a 41-yard touchdown pass from Ethan Everson to Clayton Reed with 8:47 left.


Bower led the Tigers with 106 yards and two touchdowns on eight carries, Jantz finished with three carries for 86 yards and a score and Lowe totaled five carries for 50 yards and his three TDs as the team averaged nearly nine yards per carry.


Gunter will host Prairiland on Friday while S&S travels to Leonard.
