DURANT — Southeastern Oklahoma State kicker Joel Carlos has been named the Great American Conference Special Teams Player of the Week following his heroics in a 30-27 win over Northwestern Oklahoma State over the weekend.

Carlos scored 12 points in the contest, but none were bigger than the final three — which he drove through the uprights with less than one second to play to give the Savage Storm a 30-27 victory.

He made all three field goal tries, hitting the game-winner from 32 yards out while also adding kicks of 19 and 24 yards.

Additionally he was 3-for-3 on PATs.

Carlos also handled punting duties and averaged 35.3 yards per punt, pinning NWOSU inside its 20-yard line three times.

He helped the team reach a 5-0 start for the first time since 1988, climbing to No. 23 in the latest AFCA Coaches Poll.
